And, the answer is unlikely to be popular here, but the hip and/or hop killed quality R&B. Black kids interested in music end up trying to "rap," rather than learn an instrument, perform, write or create, you know "music." Or they want to skip all that and just "produce" - by mixing samples and beats together with Pro Tools.
