We're flying into Madison Friday afternoon and staying at Holiday Inn by the airport. It's northeast of downtown and "on the way" to Green Bay.
Can anyone recommend a fun restaurant in Madison (equivalent to Sammy's in BR) for Friday night? Will be wearing P&G, so don't want to get beat up.

Essen Haus. German restaurant. Polka Music. Boot drinking.
On the capital square is the Old Fashioned. Its a Wisconsin themed supper club. Import beers are any beer not made in Wisconsin at that place.
Memorial Union Terrace is also a great stop for a few beers as the day turns into night. Might have live music and a nice lake view.
Depends what time you are talking and what kind of group you have and what you are looking for. Let me know-I am happy to help and hope you enjoy the town.
My favorite area Friday night supper club fish fry is Maple Tree in McFarland(just 5 minutes outside of town on the SE side).
Nobody will beat you up in Madison.
