Probably Janet Evans.

It was incredible. This little teenager was beating laboratory muscled East German men.

I think 1988 Seoul is the greatest performance for an athlete considering the odds she was under and the cheating she was going against as the Eastern bloc was barely holding on and going all-in with their cards. Wasn't remotely the drug scrutiny we have today. These were men swimming against women after being pumped full of testosterone for over 10 years as we later found out.

In 1988, Evans a new world record in the 400-meter freestyle event. This record stood for 18 years.(That's an eternity in swimming)

Looked like the US had blown it after three straight falls with Strug injuring her ankle on the last. Then she nailed the final vault on one GD foot.
