A LA Tech friend from back in the day gave me this opinion, and I am with him on it.

If LA Tech doesn't lose in overtime to Oklahoma in the Sweet Sixteen, they make it all the way to national championship game and lose to Georgetown.

I still don't know how Tisdale's shot went in after it looked like it was going to roll off the rim about three times. Go to the 1:12 mark. LINK

My dad was on the football team at Tech during that time. He roomed in the athletic dorms across the hall from Malone. So of course, they became friends.

Well, flash forward to this year's LSU football season, Karl comes to our tailgate and the game gets brought up. And him and my dad were talking about it and he, my dad, said "why didn't we have so-n-so guarding tisdale?" (I forget the guy's name he was referring to) and Karl just shoots him a look and says "Oh yeah I guess I must not have been good enough to guard him."

My dad's face went beet red and Karl started laughing his arse off. My dad felt so bad about it though. Karl could just never win the big one.

He did say that Karl Malone was one of the coolest athletes he met at Tech. He said every Sunday night Karl's mom would bring him fried chicken and the entire hallway would smell of some of the best fried chicken he'd ever ate.

I know, csb
