Do people, or more importantly the American military, realize just how slow a 10-minute mile pace is while running? And we're not even talking about maintaining that speed for 10-20 miles. That's only about six measly laps around a damn 400-m track.
I understand that soldiers aren't necessarily trekking cross-country like they did in the military excursions of the past, but it's arguably more practical than having to perform an arbitrary number of crunches.
