Yet if you did a per-city survey, I bet MLB comes out on top. More Yankees fans than Knicks fans. Six and Celtics. Phillies and Sixers. Nats/Os and Wizards. Cubs and Bulls. You do this for every city and MLB wins at an 80+% clip.
But NBA is national. It has more national fans and interest.

I love the MLB, but the NBA is easier to pickup during the playoffs and watch. I did not see one regular season NBA game, but enjoyed the finals. Baseball is like watching Game of Thrones; you have follow all year to get excited about the post season.
