That article was written after a false confession. How are you treating it as an accurate representation of facts?

I think the degree of this guys involvement definitely matters. Your'e right a 14 year old should not be given 10 years for a joy ride if that is all that it is. But why are you "joy riding" in a freshly murdered persons car? This isn't like he took his mom's whip down the road to a buddies house. It is fair to assume that he would at least have an idea who murdered the lady seeing that he was found in the stolen car. If he refused to help with the investigation and clear his name at that point then he deserved what he got.
