I read an article the other day comparing a macbook and a pc, both spec'd out using $1500 max. The pc dominated in all areas except battery. Even then, I don't recall the battery on the pc being bad at all.
I'll see if I can link it later.
It basically did prove that Macs are a terrible value, and that even those artsy types that "need" Macs for a living are better off with a pc.

I don't know, let me ask my 5 year old MacBook Air that despite 5 years of heavy use, literally works as well as the day I got it out of the box and has never required tech support or servicing.
