I don't think anyone really won in the immediate aftermath. It's kind of like a game of chicken where no one chickened out. The future remains to be seen, but it's not like this is an unsolvable challenge.

No, but as a resident of Austin, I would feel like we lost something of value to me because we didn't want to feel like "they were picking on us".

Get over it. Maybe they were, but if that's the price we have to pay to have an efficient/effective taxi service, so be it.
