Eh, it depends on how broadly you want to define it.
If he had never chosen to "serve his country," he wouldn't have been in the middle of ratphuck Afghanistan to begin with to get killed by his own guys.
Even further, if you are arguing he wasn't "serving his country" because being in Afghanistan in the first place was dumb, well, you are entitled to your opinion on that but I'm fine with saying "he served his country" even if at the same time I may think the overall mission was dumb or didn't actually serve American interests. Mainly, because I'm not an a-hole about such things, we don't need to bring it up when talking about HIS intentions.
