Can I ask a stupid question?

What exactly is the difference between CJ, TJ, And YJ Wranglers?

Also nice find. Interesting that he put a Vet engine in it. I would probably buy that if I saw it.

Think of each one as an updated version of the last model. As improvements make their way across the industry they will make a new model. CJs were the beginning model till 86, YJ 87-95, TJ 96-06, JK 07-current.

The overall design and features of the vehicles are improved, except square headlights

Otherwise you're looking at newer electronics, more available features, etc. Nice thing is you can still get the base model with minimal bells and whistles so to speak and not have the Jeep purists mad at you for something new and shiny

They made CJ (Civilian Jeep) in a variety of models, starting with the CJ-2a back after WW2. The most popular ones made for the longest were the CJ-5 and CJ-7. I think I read one time they made CJ-5s for over 30 years. CJ-7 started in the 70s, and they made them up until they started calling them Wrangler. The YJ Wrangler is most similar to the CJ-7 in terms of wheelbase and body style. They made YJ's from 86-95, and had the rectangle headlights. The TJ was produced from 1997-2006, and went back to the round headlights and added coil suspension instead of Leaf springs.
