In a traditional sense, living off the grid means living a life where you're basically hidden from the rest of the world. People who go off the grid don't want to be found and sure as hell aren't updating a blog.
I'm not trying to belittle what they're doing - it sounds great - but having little to no amenities does not necessarily mean you're living off the grid.

In Mexico, it's called 'kidnapping for ransom' & is more common than you would think.
If they found out about the blog, would probably make her update it to not arouse suspicions outside the immediate circle
