Very well stated regarding the bad friend dynamic we constantly see in movies. Often the friend is so obviously toxic, you wonder how or why they are friends at all.

Exactly.

I know Damon is supposed to be reformed and you do have that dynamic of trying to be loyal to an old friend...but it sort of rings false and would have rung more true if Norton's character was reformed but showed his true colors later...Damon sort of jumps back right in without much hesitation despite all he has going for him and accepts once again all he turned his back on...if Norton's character had a brief period where he was trying to lead a normal life...instead of just scamming two minutes out of prison...it would have been a more interesting dilemma and dynamic between the two.
