There is an old principle that you are supposed to get better as you are challenged by the best. USA aspires to be great, and the only way to get there is to play the best. Also--there are a lot of LSU fans at USA and in the Mobile area. LSU playing USA could also be a type of recruiting ploy to continue to attract Mobile talent--unfortunately, Bama has had the upper hand recently (LSU got Jamarcus Russell and a few other players a good while ago--Bama got McCarron and Coker). USA probably doesn't need the money--the school was academically sound long before football. Also--USA plays against a lot of the upper tier teams in the U.S., why not football?
