Got a receiver for Christmas and having some trouble setting up and getting full functionality of the receiver.
the model is LINK
initially, i set the hdmi out from the receiver to the first hdmi input in the tv. all other electronics (directv box, apple tv, and playstation) plugged into the inputs for hdmi in the receiver. i had no issues, could turn the receiver off and the hdmi passthrough would allow audio to be played through the televsion. could also turn receiver, select the right input and audio would come from home theater speakers.
today, i cannot get television audio to play through home theater speakers. nothing changed that i know of. switched to fm radio on the receiver and plays fine through the home theater speakers.
i don't really know what's wrong. i tried maybe the order i turned them on but that didn't work
any recommendations?

Look in your manual and see if the HDMI-CEC feature must be enabled when using HDMI passthrough; it's a common requirement. If so, make sure it's enabled on all your equipment, including TV. Then power everything off and back on again and see if it works. Later, when it starts to drive you crazy with random issues, turn all that shite off and use a remote with macros that can power stuff up, switch inputs, etc; that's what most people end up doing. If was enabled all along, well, now you know what to do.
What if you don't see HDMI-CEC? Look for manufacturer-specific names like Viera Link, KURO Link, etc. The non-standard names are part of the bullshite that characterizes the feature.
