I'm sure I'll get roasted but I thought it was completely overhyped. I like Leo, like his movies, like watching him. He tries so damn hard but I just never completely buy in to him as the character he's playing. It seems like in every movie now he has that scene or scenes where he's yelling, shaking, and about to bust a blood vessel in his face. I swear I think after working with DDL on Gangs of New York he adopted a "intensity will get me an Oscar" strategy. It just doesn't seem natural or organic with him. The actors who say they choose to stay out of the spotlight so that people see a character instead of a celebrity have a point. It's hard for me to buy a guy that dates only supermodels and brings home 20 girls from the bar as a hard arse frontiersman. As amazing as the story of Glass is it's pretty restricting on film. I agree the cinematography was amazing. So amazing that it's the star of the film and should be the only thing that wins an award. Hardy was good but like Bane I didn't know what the hell he was saying half the time. I did catch myself wondering how the movie would be with him in the role of Glass. Leo is an A lister and gets to cherry pick roles, but this kind of role just doesn't fit him. He shines in movies that are more polished and glossy. This movie was more artsy and I thought it was too easy to just watch him act instead of forgetting that he's acting. It was like watching a pop star try and pull off prog rock. Blast away
