if you listen to his explanation, it sounds like it's very true.

Greg Gard is the assistant he wanted to take over the program at the end of last season. But Gard's father was diagnosed with cancer and eventually passed away in October. Ryan thought it wouldn't be right to have him take over the program at that point in his life.

Wisconsin will be in good hands with Gard. I can't imagine Tony Bennett leaving UVA to come to Wisconsin. The "home town" thing is kind of played out.
