Yeah. Booming during certain times... Essence, Super Bowls, etc. Other than that, not at all. When was the last time you heard someone say they moved to Nola for career possibilities? I never did. As far as Houston being spread out, yeah it is. But most people stay in there area. Tomball people live in Tomball and shop around Tomball. Pasadena people live and shop around Pasadena. Its up to the individual where they want to live, work, and shop. I WOULD agree with you if you said you lived in a certain town and you have to drive to the next time to shop or pick up your kid from school. But there is everything in every specific area where you are. If you live in Spring, you dont have to drive to the southwest side to go to Best Buy etc.

Nola has been near the top in young professional growth for several years now
The real estate market there is unreal right now, similar to what was happening in the woodlands before the oil bust
This is from before the hospital jobs that have opened up and will continue to do so:
one of many articles on it
quote:
This includes New Orleans, which ties for first place on our list with San Antonio. The New Orleans metro area’s population of college graduates grew by 44,000 from 2007 to 2012, a 25% increase, double the national average of 12.2%. (The percentage of college grads in the U.S. stood at 19.4% in 2012, up from 18% in 2007.)
Nola's growth is pretty amazing actually. To say it hasn't changed is laughable.
