He's probably not actually miserable, just continually dissatisfied. I think part of him enjoys being a prick to people.
Saban seems to see football as a serious of problems that need to be solved while doing his best not to notice or care about anything else. When the season ends, it's time to start thinking about the next series of problems. I think urban Meyer is the same way, but add in being an emotional basketcase.
Miles sees a great atmosphere, feels the excitement around him, and sees a bunch of college kids playing hard for him. He doesn't like to lose either, but if he does, he still sees all the nice things for what they are.

So, as it turns out, the guy eating grass on the sidelines is in all actuality the most well adjusted of them all.
