1 of the zone-boundary changes I am proposing is to move the boundary back to where it was prior to 2001, which is the Houma Navigation canal. That would put Lafourche, Jefferson, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes back in the East Zone with predictably later season dates. I'm proposing that, but I don't necessarily think it's a good idea based on harvest data and habitat type. You might remember in 2012, I proposed putting all the coastal marsh around Lake Pontchartrain in the Coastal Zone. After all, it's the same coastal marsh and the same assemblage of birds. So I'm looking for some feedback, positive or negative. I know there are hunters in SE Louisiana that reject the notion that the season needs to be later, just as there are hunters that strongly feel it needs to be. At the 4 previous meetings, there has been no feedback on that particular zone-boundary change. This is the critical meeting to hear what local hunters have to say. Everyone will have an opportunity to speak, and I hope to see you there.

pushing it back there would mean having to choose between a "coot shoot" in lake boeuf and making the opening on a lease or on the WMA. I know most of the people around my area would opt to keep it where it is now just so they can make two different openings.

while true it is a horrible reasoning for keeping it the way it is

simple enough, give me an extra week in January over November

ETA: and I'd venture to say 75-80% of the people in Lake Bouef opening day might hunt a total of 5 days during the season
