Tough spot to be in I'm sure, but I think you are doing the right thing if you can find the proper home. These dogs need tons of attention and exercise. If it's alone I'd say it needs almost slightly more attention then exercise. Certain gsp's need affirmation beyond what you would think is possible, but I've seen it first hand while Others just need to run and could care less about attention.

Let the dog go to a good home where it will be well taken care of and both of you will be relieved.

The 10'x6' Belhen (sp?) kennel sold through tractor supply are top notch and will definitely keep it contained if you want to go the outdoor kennel route.
