Wife and I left Louisiana for Texas some 25 years ago - she being from Shreveport and me being from River Ridge. The move has been good to us and nothing to say staying would not have been good to us, just can't answer an unknown. Biggest regret was, and still is, the distance from our families. We moved for career reasons as well as the education of our children and both have worked out fine.

I would return to Louisiana, preferably in the central part of the State, but the wife, not so much as she has developed some pretty deep friendships and more importantly, for both of us, our children and their families reside in Texas - Fort Worth, Lubbock, Wichita Falls - and we really enjoy being in their company

And as far as being around native Texans...they are just people who have much pride in their State, nothing wrong with that, imv.
