Playing gigs is a good way to destroy any semblance of a normal life and your "3 close friends" will, more than likely, not be so close anymore.
Only do it if the money is good...real good.

I have considered this many times. And I've played the scenario out in my head a bunch. I have a strong feeling who I'd would stay close with, who who would quit, and who i'd possibly lose friendship with.
But, I've been on stage before in multiple different settings and I absolutely love it. I'd jump at the chance for a gig because i love music and performing.

You sound like ex bandmates of mine who couldn't hack it, and who live in a constant turmoil because on one hand they want you to fail, and on the other hand they want you to be successful..because it will then become their claim to any type of fame.
Sorry you had a bad experience.
