Can't believe hasn't been mentioned yet...I know of three people who had their vehicle overfilled and one oil pan cracked. One overfill they never drained any, 6 qts over full! No way to know if they drained all old oil out, or what quality oil or filter they use. On a $30k truck? I'll pass. Btw, I live in the country, used oil goes on the fence row!

Yeah, plenty of horror stories from the quick lube places.

But, most modern cars only require changes every once in a while, around the same time you need to rotate tires. I bring my car to a real mechanic and get oil/tires done at the same time. He does a quick inspection too. Total bill is well under 100 bucks.

I can change oil better than the minimum wage guys, but I'm not a mechanic. And I'm not going to rotate the tires.
