Lions are expected to be extinct by 2050. There's 34,000 world wide which is down 50% from 30 years ago. Your referring to managed wildlife areas where hunting is necessary control over populations. This is not the case for the lion as its an official threatened species by the world wild life fund and could be listed as endangered very soon.

Yes, I am. They have these in Africa, and this is where the legal hunting is done. Poachers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, but all hunters are not poachers.

It's more than just overpopulation management, though. They need land. To give them more land, there needs to be a profit motive for giving them the land.

(And, just to reinforce, the whole idea of hunting elephants, lions, tigers is distasteful to me.)
