Looks to me.. Shes drunk, she established position at the bar to get a drink.. He grabs the bar also to establish position.. That's pretty much exactly how I see it. It does seem like she elevates the situation from the verbal to the violent though. That's why I think that if it were two men then no one would question the QB acting from a position of self defense. Otherwise people just blame the man because they don't see the woman as a real threat. Which she probably wasn't.
