No, tags for marlin, sailfish, and swordfish are much larger and are designed to be intramuscular tags.
The small tag you see in the OP's trout is dart tag that has a small barb locked in between the fishes pterygiophores.
In any case, the tags are designed to be very light weight and when applied properly do not interfere with the fishes normal movement.

I don't agree. That tag is like 4" long, or looks like it in that pic. . Marlin tags aren't more than 6 inches. A 2" difference in tag size vs the size of a marlin/trout size is a huge difference. Again, the drag of that tag must suck.
