My destination would be a little west of downtown and closer to Memorial Park/River Oaks area. Sugar Land looks pretty good. Woodlands is out of the question.

FYI, 610 at the Galleria has easily the worst traffic in Houston. A commute from Sugarland to Memorial park/RO is destined to run into that shite show.

If you plan to car pool though, you should fly in/out on the HOV and can avoid 610 if you just get off at Edloe.

610 between 59 and 290 is a constant cluster f.

Also something to consider when in a burb is how long does it take to get to the highway from your house. Often it can take close to half your commute to get to the interstate or highway. I dealt with that when I moved to Jersey Village when I first came to the area. While I wasn't far from either 290 or B8, it took forever to get to either during a rush hour especially during the school year. I hated it so I said f it and moved inside the loop. I've been a ITL snob since. It annoys me anytime I have to go outside of 610.

So, perhaps better to look in an area that would allow me to take I-10 or 290 west? Don't know if there are desirable areas that would allow this.
