I was referring to major cities. But you're right, some areas are a lot whiter than others. You could lump in ATL with Memphis and Detroit. Charleston, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, and Jackson not so much.

Jackson is 95% black.

Baton Rouge has horrid crime. Charleston has a very rough and large ghetto.

Jackson and Charleston are both smaller than Knoxville.

Again, I'm referring to major cities.

That's N. Charleston.

Nashville's alright. Every time I visit, it has changed. Something new is being built, etc. That's a good thing (new music ampitheater and baseball stadium downtown) and a bad thing (areas like The Gulch). I feel like the city will eventually lose its identity and become just another big, cookie cutter city like Charlotte, Atlanta, Dallas, etc.

The traffic is pretty miserable at times. The city is very spread out. You don't have many "strips" of entertainment and nightlife ( like King St, Magazine St, etc). You have to get in your car and drive to Midtown, then drive to Edgefield, then drive to 12 South. Basically, the city isn't very walkable.

The city isn't short of entertainment options. For sports, you've got a minor league baseball team, a NHL team, a NFL team, and a SEC university. You'll also get any concert available.

I haven't done any outdoor activities when I visited (mainly for parties, weddings, football games). I really couldn't direct you to where they are.
