I actually thought about doing this. I can read music from playing another instrument, and played piano for about a year when I was young.

Do it! Each day that goes by is a day of progress that you miss if all you do is think about it!
Most of my teaching was with elementary school children and I loved to see them progress. Especially loved their excitement as they did what they thought hey couldn't do.
Would love to teach adults from scratch. They need a special type of encouragement to overcome their worst critic, their own self.
If anyone ever gives you flack about wanting to learn to play any instrument, ignore them. I had a lot of professional colleagues look down and roll their eyes at me, but I bet they never played Chopin's Aeolian Harp (I think that's the correct name, it took for ever to learn; not sure my hands work that way anymore).
