That is the worst possible thing anyone could implement. Awarding teams points for not even putting the ball in the basket is about as retarded as it gets.

I agree it isn't ideal, but I think something should be done. The end of basketball games is IMO the worst part of the game. It should be the most exciting. It really kills casual interest in the sport. Someone else suggested getting a free throw or two and getting the ball back. I'd also be in favor of that. Just something to reduce the number of fouls. I honestly find the end of basketball to be almost unwatchable. By far the worst ends (in general) of any of the big four sports. The other sports I'm on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next. Basketball I'm usually just wishing the clock would hurry up and run out.
