recruiting is the #1 skill a college basketball coach must excel at and everything else is a distant, distant 2nd.

Im not disagreeing with this mentality but a distant second??? Coaching plays little to no part in winning and advancing deep into the NCAA Tourney?

Talent will get you further in the tourney than coaching will. You take a coaching combo of coach K/RP and place them at a school like ULL and give me the ULL coach with the Duke/UL talent and I am willing to bet my team goes deeper in the tourney than yours.

Am I saying game time coaching makes no difference? Of course not. Only that going deeper in the tourney is decided a lot more off the talent on the floor than the coaching on the bench. imo

Basketball has longer periods of game action in which coaches have little or no involvement due to the pace of the game/fewer breaks in the action.
