I have an older gen of the 1000 Symetre and I love it. However i actually was in the market to get another last year and was not as impressed with the latest offerings. My older Shimano was MUCH more reel than the newer models. Believe I wound up getting a Quantum they had on a ridiculous sale which I absolutely love for ultralight/light bass fishing, but may be overmatched with larger fish.
Heard nothing but good about the Pfleugers so I think if it were e I'd have to give their 2500 series a serious look.
