Yep. There is an NPC somewhere who will build you a ladder, but I don't know where. I thought that cat ring would help me jump down to the planks, but i guess I don't have enough HP to pull it off.

Fwiw I survived the fall just to get blasted by the monsters. They are tough I exited with the quickness
