More that Texans have been so damn smug about their economy and how it's a result of their doing something right. In actuality, it's mostly been due to macroeconomic factors they had nothing to do with. Now the cycle has changed, and Texas' fortunes have changed, again due to factors beyond their control.

If Texas is just lucky by sitting on vast oil reserves, why isn't California reaping benefits from its oil reserves at a similar pace? I think you know the answer.
