Thanks for the note. It’s only March and I’m getting these already. It should be an interesting season! We have some plans to try to encourage Mike to enter his trailer this next season. We will try these out this summer. That’s all we can do. There is no “teaching” him, since he already knows how to get into his trailer. The issue is not lack of knowledge, but is a very natural and normal lack of desire. These are secretive, forest dwelling animals that are rarely seen by people in their natural habitat, simply because they choose not to be. It amazes me that our tigers have ever left the comfort of their night house to venture out into all the noise and chaos that is an LSU game day, other than for the reason that in the old enclosure, the tiger could be forced to do so. We cannot and will not force him to load. My concern is that if LSU fans continue to escalate this as an issue, it could have the undesirable but not unpredictable effect of causing this to be the last tiger we have. Thank you for the quick response Mr. Baker. I understand your concern about tiger fans escalating this issue. To that I would say make a decision and go public with it. It is fairly obvious that Mike VI will not be making an appearance in Tiger Stadium this year. I say that based off last year and your response to my e-mail. If you're not going to take him into the stadium just announce it and get it out there before the season starts. Fans who care about this tradition will be less disappointed if you let them know beforehand not to expect him. Don't give us that glimmer of hope only to be disappointed. I hope I haven't come off as rude. I know satisfying a passionate fan base & a 450 lb. cat is a tough balancing act. I trust you will make the right decision. David Baker never had a problem getting this same tiger into the cage from 2007-2013. Then all of a sudden last year Mike VI had to be forced into the cage? It doesn't make sense to me. There's something going on here that we don't know. I don't believe that stress bullshite for a second. I really PETA has this dude by the balls.
