the very first scene uses the word "n****r" like 50 times
I think parents don't give kids enough credit as far as what they're ready to see/hear
I'm not saying crack open a cold one for him, but GTA is just a video game. It's not going to turn him into a killer, gang banger, or socially mal adjusted weirdo

I agree with everyone in that GTA V is more visceral.
I guess it depends on how mature your 15 year old is

It's very possible that the story in GTAV deals in darker nastier shite than he has ever seen in his life. In fact there are probably a shitload of 80-year olds that have never seen something that twisted. And you're in control of it. 15 year old kids are fricking dumb and listless and impulsive and hormonal and angsty and impressionable. This is a story that you don't want to leave any lasting impression whatsoever if you're trying to develop a functional person. He's not gonna become a killer or a criminal but you might kill off his last shred of childhood innocence. He hears nasty shite at school, but not a narrative realistic story that's so twisted and deep and dark, because the kids at school aren't that creative.
Again, I would put the maturity level of the story at NC-17. Like a Todd Solondz movie. That shite is fricked up.
