Just general reading. I know bats were heavier, pitchers on speed alone were slower on average, but they also pitched longer innings, however they did have the spit ball. I know Babe Ruth's swing was different, but I think he would be a great hitter today or back then. There were less athletes to choose from bc of racial barriers. Just in general when only comparing Babe Ruth's Era to today it is clearly a step above. I think when you get into the 50's-60's the gap start narrowing greatly. I think there were athletes back then that would be better than athletes now with modern training, but personally comparing pitching back then to now I believe would not be close.

In baseball they would be fine because everyone played so much, Americans then were like Dominicans are now. Pitching would be fine with the training we have today. IMO its the only sport that could stand the test of time.
