Without question, the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the most influential individual in the history of mankind.

If you are Christian, Jewish, or Muslim, it would have to be Noah building an Ark and surviving the worldwide flood. That or Adam eating the forbidden fruit, or Abraham having a son.

From a non-religious standpoint I would actually go with the the US winning the revolutionary war and the writing of our constitution. Nothing has had a larger impact on the way people all over the world live their lives on a daily basis. It was the beginning of the civilized world freeing itself of monarchies and dictators. It proved to the world that the writings of Locke, Rousseau, etc could actually be implemented and succeed as more than theory. It spawned the French Revolution and countless other revolutions.

Landing on the moon is cool, but what did it really change? How did it impact our lives?

He said most famous/memorable/iconic moment in history. Not the most influential story made up by people.
