Not to derail the thread but I got one yesterday for the first time in 10 years, now four total since I have had my license 20+ years. Never received one for going more than 10 over the limit. In fact I always set cruise 10 mph at most over speed limit traffic permitting when on interstate. Anyway was on 3127 outside of Hahnville. Deputy said I was doing 87 in a 60. Asked if he was sure because I never travel that fast and plus he could pull up my history and see I have never received a ticket for going more than 10 over. I asked if it was possible he clocked another vehicle and thought it was me? Plus mentioned that the actual speed limit on that hwy was 65 not 60. He came back with are you calling me a liar. Knew right then to just shut up and be on my way. On the ticket he wrote the speed limit was 61. If I call the Asst. DA will I be able to do anything about this?

One of my five came in this exact area and the same thing happened. It was on 90 east and a trooper stopped me for going 79 in a 55. My cruise was set at 65 so I told him there was no way I was going that fast. He said well I'll try to help you out as long as you don't take this to court. He wrote the ticket for 70 in a 55. Wasn't sure to thank him or not.
