There is easily more parity in the NFC and more parity in the NFL now then there was in the 80s. Free agency and cap restrictions have made it much more difficult for teams to remain on top for an extended period of time. Montana is definitely among the greatest who has ever played the game but he did have a lot of talent surrounding him, including the greatest player in NFL history (Jerry Rice).

Brady's success is more impressive when you consider he has only had one sure fire Hall of Famer playing alongside him on offense (Randy Moss).

Montana had Rice for two Super Bowls. Brady had Moss for two Super Bowls and what happened?

See above post, when all is said and done, Brady will have played with more HOF than Montana, especially looking on the defensive side. The talent issue can just be pointed back to Rice. Montana had a decent tight end in Clark during first two titles. Brady has Gronk. I'd rate Edelman, Welker, Troy Brown over Montana's John Taylor
