Overall FEMALE ran at 7:04 min/milepace.

Over MALE ran at 5:38 min/mile pace. That's a significant difference over the course of over 26 miles.

It tightens up at the elite levels. The men are running 4:50 to 5:00 miles, with the women running 5:30 to 5:40, generally (roughly corresponds to 2 hour and 2 1/2 hour marathons).

Any woman who runs a marathon under 4 hours, even, gets my salute - 3 hours? - that's faster than I can run the 100m
