It is pretty telling that Austin been mentioned a dozen times, yet no one actually backs it up with anything substantive.

Ok, I can list some things I did not like about Austin. I lived there for 4 years and I am very thankful that I left.

The traffic there is terrible. A 15 minute trip in the morning easily turns into a hour trip between 2-6 pm. Unbelievable that a city the size of Austin has one freaking interstate going through it. One! If you love long traffic jams for short trips then Austin is the city for you.

I saw more bums and homeless people in Austin than any other city I have been to (I have lived in New Orleans and Miami). They are literally at every stop light in a 5 miles radius around downtown. In downtown they are like ants crawling around there bugging and harassing you for money. When you park they will say they will watch your car for 5 dollars which leads you to believe if you don't pay "will you do something to my car"? The homeless are in the parking lots at: post offices, Wal-mart, HEB/Grocery stores, parking garages, and the mall.

Music is ok but nothing to brag about. Bars are ok but they close at 2 AM. They turn the lights on and tell everyone to get out even if the bar is packed. I was shocked. 6th street is a prime spot for homeless bums and thugs. Their is a smell of piss and vomit in the air. It stinks. I brought a date to 2nd street and we had a table outside. Once a good breeze picked up the smell of sewage was in the air.

Most places look like a circus freak show with all the weirdos, gays, and hippies trying so hard to really just fit in with each other. If you are normal then you are judged and disliked in Austin.

This is a very expensive city to live in. Probably one of the worst in the country if you want to actually live in the city close to everything. My friend from Chicago said that his rent in downtown Austin was more than downtown Chicago. My one bedroom apt downtown cost a arm and a leg. Very pricey for everything. Enjoy the suburbs which looks the same as every other surburb in this country.

Cedar and all kinds of crap in the air their. If you move to Austin and you do not have allergies you will develop them over time. Tons of people walking around with this ugly vomit orange shirts on all the time. Zero professional sports teams.
