It is the norm when you have a talented development staff, and understand what you want to do on offense. Ie. Patterson, Briles, Harbaugh, Leach etc. How many of there usually (FAR LESS TALNTED, and not highly ranked coming out of HS) go on to start, play well early and usually have multi-year illustrious careers?

Leach's QBs were never great. They were just air raid, throw on every down, dink and donk, system QBs. Briles has something going but Patterson has been at TCU since 2002 and his only QBs of note are Dalton, Pachall 1 year, and Boykin 1 year.

JJ was better than all but three of Patterson's QBs at TCU (I'd say tie with Ballard). Harbaugh had the very talented Luck, and that was it. There is nothing else to go on with him.

I wish you had looked around instead of spouting off names like you knew what the hell you were talking about.

I agree with the OP. Everywhere else Les has done well with recruiting...yes you can argue OL and LB, but that is it and very few universities have done much better at those two. QB is LSU weakness. Hopefully Harris will make a difference next year, not saying AJ cannot get better, but I don't feel by much. I'd be happy, if I'm wrong.

Hey Dummy! Numbers never lie. Check the QB production of any of those guys, and while you're at it, check the passing record books on them.

The point you missed was that one of those guys can take far less talented guys and make them super successful at their position because of how they're coached and developed. They all know what they want to do on offense, and when they're clicking, there is not much a defense can do when facing a great passing attack. Not saying we need to go air raid, but can you imagine what kind of success on offense we could see with a true commitment to a passing game. The balance with this running game would be lethal. We've seen glimpses in the past with 2011 season, and with Cam/Mett last year.
