Always disappointing when a kid doesn't make the grades. A full ride, free degree, Tiger player & they either do not have the intellectual capability or to undisaplined to go to class.
If intellect is the issue, the staff needs to do a better job in evaluating the kids they are recruiting. If an immaturity issue, do what you have to do to make damn sure they are in class. Communication with the academic staff is imperative. A simple email from prof to a coach, "Joe was not in class today".
There are so many academically & athletically qualified kids out there that don't get a shot because of recruiting decisions based solely on athletism. These two are a prime example.
Opens up two schorarships is the good news.
