People don't seem to be able to like a young man as a person, and respect him doing his best, while at the same time thinking he lacks the ability to be developed and to grow out of his poor thought patterns. These are 2 entirely different things. Like not exposing a young lady who you love and who dreams of being a beauty contestant because you don't want to see her dreams crushed because she is just lacking. You encourage her for a while just to make sure, and then if you really love her you will work with her to steer her ambitions to something she has a chance to succeed at. Life is full of these sort of realities, and pointing to the exceptions is invalid when 90% of the football knowdlegeable world sees that the upside simply is unlikely. The job of the LSU coaches is not to forge a path based on 10% likelihood, but to find a way that is at least 50-50, and hopefully in the 70+% range of success likelihood.

Let me clarify. I do not expect Jennings to emerge from Fall Practice as a polished, 3000 yard QB... but I refuse to believe that Jennings is incapable of improving upon the product he displayed in his 2nd year. Every LSU QB under Miles has managed to do so.

This "ceiling" bullshite is exactly that.
