To be honest, they are so f'ing different that it is really hard to compare. The only position you can compare to hocke is that everyone is either a WR/TE or a CB/S. Looking through that prism and excluding fighting, I would say that Hockey is more violent, especially when you are sprinting down the ice to avoid an icing call.

Watch the Michael Del Zotto hit where he got a concussion or the Habs Geoffreon hit, or just go on youtube and google Scott Stevens as examples.

As far as getting hit though, I mean a LB/DL/OL is literally getting hit on every play. So that is different. In hockey when you look up stats you'll see 35-40 hits per game, so there are less collisions for sure, just that when they happen they are happening at such a high speed and force.
