Easy. He is one of the few actual conservatives in the Senate, and he is despised by the GOP leadership probably moreso than the Dems. McConnell and company are doing whatever they can to shut him up, marginalize him and ridicule him, all with the beaming approval of Reid and his cohorts.
There is no 2-party system. It's one big party, and We the People are not invited.
