The first one was a solidly good film. Not great, but solidly good.
The second one was a mostly meh movie with a terrible final quarter. The love interest was distractingly miscast. It was romanticized and reviewed better than it really was because of Heath Ledger's death.
The third one was just a train wreck. Bad movie.

I've said it ad nauseum, but why the frick did they cast Maggie Gyllenhaal after Katie Holmes said no? She looks nothing like Katie Holmes. At least get a lookalike like Anne Hathaway or Wynona Rider. Not to mention the fact that her acting was terrible.
Sorry, but I've never had a more "WTF" moment in a theater than the minute I realized Maggie Gyllenhaal was the love interest of two eligible bachelors.

If you take out Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker, the whole series is just decent.

When you think about how Rachel's death was a defining moment for Bruce, you have to think how much more of an impact it would've been if Holmes had been in TDK. Gyllenhaal was terrible. Nolan had a string of casting really poor female leads between Inception and TDK.

Bruce put the cowl on for just a little over two and a half years total and ran away when the going got tough?
Anyone else have a problem with this?

The realism play for Nolan's trilogy is the race card argument in OJ's trial.
We are talking about a comic book movie. Yes, you don't want to break suspension of disbelief. However,if you want to start using the realism card, after the garage scene where he was hit by a van, thrown into solid concrete pillar at least 30 mph, followed by a 3 story freefall where he somehow has enough force to crush the front end of said van while nailing the landing, he would have never gotten out the garage.
Not to mention the free fall from his penthouse with no injuries to Rachel or himself.
When the story called for it, he was injured. When it didn't, he wasn't. That's not realism.

The most unrealistic aspect of Nolans Batman movies is Maggie as the love interest of a billionaire. It's insulting that we're expected to believe she's attractive
