only way the Big 12 expands is if teams bring in more revenue than they would take. Right now the pot is split 10 ways. If you split it 12 ways, the 2 additional teams better bring enough revenue so the cut for each team doesn't get smaller.
Teams that fits the revenue profile:
BYU - it's like the ND for Mormons. Huge following, right academic fit. Problem is they don't play on Sundays, which is a problem for sports outside of football. BYU could join as a football only member. However, what recruiting base does this add? None.
Cincinati - Not sure if they fit the revenue profile, but I feel like they would. Right academic fit.
UCF - Florida recruiting base, Orlando TV market, decent stadium, decent facilities, big university. All positives. This team has won back to back conference championships in the American.
Teams that I doubt would fit:
Memphis, USF. USF is in tampa, but the state of the program is not as good as UCF. Tampa also cares more about the NFL, while Orlando only has UCF when it comes to football.
Hell No:
Fresno State, Boise State, etc. These teams don't fit the revenue requirement. End of Story.
